mate-desktop-dbg software package provides Library with common API for various MATE modules (debugging symbols), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install mate-desktop-dbg
mate-desktop-dbg is installed in your system.
Make ensure the mate-desktop-dbg package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep mate-desktop-dbg *
You will get with mate-desktop-dbg package name, version, architecture and description in a table
